What might sound crap on a snare drum might be brilliant on a vocal, or vice versa. I have many reverb plugins that I try from time to time, and they all have their uses. I think you can always find something suitable. That's why I appreciate the ArtsAcoustic approach - it is very easy to tweak to taste. What works on one thing might be completely wrong for the next. There are plenty of bad acoustic spaces too. I now realise that hardware had it's problems too.Īny digital reverb device can be made to sound bad. I used to moan about VST reverbs, wondering when they were going to get better than hardware. And sometimes a freebie reverb can blow them away. I have good impulses of some high end stuff which sound good - but often when i check the mono compatibility, they suck just as much as some plugins. ArtsAcoustic is so versatile, and the GUI is so well designed, that it really could be your only reverb.

Makes more sense to me to simply use an algorithmnic reverb in the first place. More often than not, the convolution reverbs are playing samples of algorithmic reverbs. How it's achieved doesn't really matter much.
